25 DAYS OF VALASSIS
25 Days of Valassis was a social media campaign celebrating the Valassis company’s achievements over the previous year. Designed primarily for Instagram, the campaign’s rollout also served as a countdown to the holidays and the end of the financial year.
VISUAL DESIGN
To capture the festive atmosphere of the holidays, the design team paired the company’s existing suite of colors and modern typefaces with a friendly, classical (faintly Dickensian) serif font — Didot — and a bold, playful illustration style. In each image, numbers represent both the calendar-day and one of the company’s many accomplishments. The colorful, exaggerated figures interact with the numbers in a way that is expressive of both the content and/or holiday season.
SOCIAL MEDIA
With regular updates to the copy and ever-changing requests for approval, many of the images for 25 Days were produced after the campaign was already underway.
Ultimately, the countdown was considered a success — garnering attention from followers and contributing to the revitalization of the company’s social media presence.

ALL THINGS SOCIAL
All Things Social was an ongoing series of discussions between knowledgeable representatives from Valassis Inc. about current and cultural events within the social media sphere specifically as they relate to successful consumer brands, influencer marketing strategies and digital content development.
STAKEHOLDER NEEDS
Organizers were seeking an updated look to refresh the series’ social media presence and create a distinct style within the boundaries of the existing Valassis brand.
The visual design needed to be memorable, concise, and versatile enough to capture the attention of users across different digital platforms. The result was a mix of imagery that felt authentic, diverse and contemporary, with bright, high-contrast layouts and bold text.
SOCIAL MEDIA
The final product was an established series of layouts tailored to different digital devices and social media platforms — primarily the company’s LinkedIn and Instagram profiles, which included both static in-feed posts and animated stories.
Rotating color sets and curated images reflecting the subject of each month’s discussion helped ensure content for All Things Social felt fresh and relevant while remaining visually consistent.

COCA-COLA ANIMATION
The Coca-Cola animation was developed for submission by Valassis, Inc. as a bid to partner with Coke’s Food Services team. The beverage company posted the request for proposal in search of marketing partners who could build campaigns to drive higher customer traffic in participating restaurants.
MERGING BRANDS
To stand out from other candidates, our design team chose to forgo the conventional applicant-focused branding approach. Instead, we wanted to illustrate unity and collaboration between Coke and Valassis by blending both visual brands.
We researched Coca-Cola’s style guidelines and became familiar with the company’s color palette, typography, logo treatment, graphic elements and iconography. Those brand standards were then thoughtfully integrated with our own to create an engaging visual narrative.

The finished product is fun and informative, highlighting the marketing company’s programs, successes, and expertise necessary to boost interest and activity on behalf of Coca-Cola.

SUSTAINABILITY REPORT
Northeast Green Building Consulting (NGBC) is a certified Benefit Corporation committed to maintaining a positive impact on society, workers, the community, and the environment in addition to generating profit.
The sustainability report was designed to establish a strong visual brand for the company using honest materials which reflect the company’s core values.
CONSTRUCTION
The construction of the sustainability report uses simple, common building materials including plywood and steel hinges to represent not only those materials used by NGBC in their projects, but also as a way of producing an interesting, low-cost alternative to more traditional methods of booklet making.
BIOMIMICRY
The company’s dedication to “teaching, designing, and building in Nature’s image” inspired many of the creative decisions made throughout the report. NGBC’s knowledge and application of biomimicry science and organic architecture is also reflected within the booklet’s graphics and composition.
SUSTAINABILITY
NGBC’s mission is influenced by the Seventh Generation principle — which concerns the sustainability and environmental health impacts of today’s decisions seven generations into the future.
Much of the report’s imagery pays homage to this philosophy, like the cross-section of a tree trunk whose rings tell a story that spans generations.
